Not on your active list but you know who I'm here for
It... was supposed to be a rendezvous with Roxas. To let him know that she was all right, to try again on talking him around. He had doubts, she knew it. Knew he was starting to see for himself that what the Organization was saying and what the Organization were doing were not matching up. But he was still too deeply rooted in the Organization. Still convinced that there was nowhere else to go, while Xion knew that anywhere was better than under their thumb.
Only the Organization member who'd found her hadn't been Roxas. She'd had a sinking feeling in her stomach when the minutes had ticked by with no sign. her fears were confirmed when she had about a split second's warning to dodge the bullet Xigbar had been aiming for her shoulder.
"Not bad. Looks like your powers aren't the only thing that've gotten stronger."
She remembers bits and pieces of the fight that followed. Of desperately searching for an opening to escape, so Xigbar couldn't follow. Remembers some of his more choice jeers ("C'mon Poppet, we know that you've been up to something. You've really got Roxas worried about you"). Remembers the quiet panic in the back of her mind, wondering if something had happened to Roxas. Remembers how, for the whole of the fight, it was hard to tell if Xigbar was serious, or just toying with her.
What she does remember solidly, more than anything else, is getting caught off-guard by a rapid bit of phasing through space on Xigbar's part, and getting knocked to the ground with the wind knocked out of her to boot. Struggling to breathe, she'd pushed herself up to find the barrel of his gun in her face. Her mind had started racing. Should she try to dodge, kick up to knock his aim awry-
Except what Xigbar had been even more inexplicable, and somehow all the more terrifying. He used his gun to trace the air, and in its wake, a mark had flared to life.
Then she'd kicked up, knocking his gun up into the air, but judging by Xigbar's expression, he wasn't bothered. In fact, he'd dismissed his weapons, taking a step back.
"A parting gift from us to you, Poppet," he'd said with a smirk, "Be seeing you." And then he was gone in a swirl of black.
She didn't know what to think, just felt the blinding need to get out of there now. And not just to the Old Mansion, to Naminé and Riku and other people she could put in danger. Somewhere the Organization couldn't get her entirely.
A quick corridor to make sure she wasn't being watched still, and then she'd pushed her way through the Tower door. Though the plain white walls don't exactly leave her feeling all that much safer either. She could go to Reno's world, except he'd told her last time they'd spoken that he was going on a mission, top secret, dangerous, and better to let him come find her afterwards. Shion... she didn't want to drag Shion into her problems. He couldn't come back if he died anymore.
That left a few other options, but one comes more readily than the others. And so when she picks her next door and pushes it open, it dumps her out in a street in Iwatodai, near where Yu was staying last time she was in the area. Not that she stays there for long - she didn't exactly have time to change into something more casual before she got here. Besides, she doesn't even know if he's there right now.
When Yu either leaves or gets back to his apartment building, whichever comes first... he might find a seashell sitting right next to the door, a very brightly-colored shell. One that very obviously couldn't have come from the beaches nearby.]
I do indeed.
The jobs would help him get by for now, at least - along with whatever yen he'd saved from their adventures inside the TV. Plus, it meant that if anything happened, he was always just a train away.
He had not forgotten the other residents of the Tower who were far less friendly than the face that often showed up most.
He'd just gotten back from another long afternoon at the hospital and his job there as a janitor there when he noticed something in the corner of his eye. Eyebrow raised, he carefully knelt down in an effort to avoid dropping his bag as he picked up the small seashell, turning it in his hand gingerly as though it would break if he did aught else.]
...Xion?
[He looked around, not spying the girl he loved with all his heart. With a sigh he stood again, unlocking the door with his key before walking in - removing his shoes and slipping into his house slippers. He tried his best to avoid acting unnatural, placing his suitcase and uniform jacket on the small table of his tiny kitchen before pulling some ingredients out of the fridge for dinner - enough for two.
The door to the apartment, however, remained open - an extra pair of slippers left in the entryway for Xion to use.]

It... it couldn't hurt though, right? Just to see him. He would take her seriously. And if nothing else it was better than stewing to herself (tempting as that might be), or fielding Riku and Namine's worried questions, along with DiZ's pointed jibes.
Yu may do his best to remain inconspicuous, but it feels hard for her to do the same. But somehow, despite feeling like she has a neon sign pointing right after, she slips into his apartment without incident.]
H-hey.... Sorry- [For the secrecy, the smoke and mirrors. For turning up like this.] It's... it's been a long day.
[And a bad one.]
no subject
He doesn't look right away, but when she begins to stutter, he frowns deeper than he had in a while.]
Sounds like more than just that.
[Yet, he doesn't seem all that bothered. If anything, he's honored she turned to him at all. When he looks up though, his eyes widened.]
...There's some medicine in the closet. [He says while carefully chopping a leek.] Dinner will be ready soon.
[Because from the look on her face, it looks like she could use it. Not just because of hunger, but comfort. Luckily he still had some of her favorite ice cream in the freezer, too.]
no subject
[Medicine... right. It was still weird to her, worlds that didn't use magic or potions for most of their healing. Honestly she thinks her injuries weren't too bad, Yu's probably seen worse. But... it worked for him, didn't it? She's probably just... being silly.
It'll take a bit, because she actually has to read all the labels to try to figure out what they do, make sure she's just taking a simple painkiller and not swallowing a bottle of cough syrup or something. Even so a lot of the warnings are... intimidating. Honestly in general, her emotions are like a lot like raw nerves. Things that might've been only a bit intimidating? Right now are very. It feels like everything's magnified a hundredfold.
For something like getting medicine, it means she doesn't trust her own judgement right now. She'll come out, with two painkillers in hand, face red.]
Is this right?
no subject
By the time she's out, the leeks and chicken skewers are already broiling, and he's washing his hands. It'll be about five minutes before he has to check to see how it's doing again.
Glancing over at the pills he only makes one correction:]
Just one.
[Two would be if she were resistant or her body was older than what it actually is. He didn't want her to overdose on accident, either. Even going so far as to put cleanup on hold for a moment to make sure everything was right as he poured her a glass of water.]
One of these days I'm going to have to buy a few potions in your worlds... [It's an absent thought he was muttering to himself, yet all the same, his concern shone through.] What happened?
no subject
I... it's probably nothing. Probably just me being silly.
[She scrubs at her face a bit.]
I tried to see Roxas again today. To talk to him about leaving. I- I'm close I can tell, I just...
[Not for the first time, she wishes she could remember more than flashes and vague impressions from the time she walked through the door. She'd seen everything, all at once. All for one moment. And yet she could barely remember scraps and fragments, now. Enough to know some things - like that the Organization was bad, really bad, and that their plans for her and Roxas were not good. But at the same time, no details. It was that, more than anything, that had driven Axel off, made him flat-out refuse when she begged him to come too.
At least that's what she hoped.]
I... I'm worried about him. I think something might've happened. He wasn't there, but... Xigbar was.
no subject
He remembered what little she told him of the Organization. How much Roxas meant to her, and how ruthless some of the other members could be. He frowns with worry, focusing on what she had to say.]
Xigbar... [He makes a mental note to ask for more details on him later, briefly glancing at the door to the other room, towards the katana he has on display by his bed.] What did he do?
no subject
[She hasn't been as thorough on the details about the Organization as she could have been, the previous times she's been here. She's mentioned bits and pieces, she knows, when she's given vague updates about how things are going home. How she's been trying to change her future. But she'd wanted to focus on the good, not keep thinking about the bad in a place where she was happy.
That... was a mistake, wasn't it? After everything she and Yu had been through at the Tower...]
Nothing, really. And... that's just it. He didn't do anything. The Organization's been chasing me ever since I got back. Since I ran away again, and... there was even a time he caught me off guard, and he could've...
[Hurt her. Taken her back. Probably even destroyed her, if he'd really wanted.]
But he drew this... this thing in the air. Some kind of spell or something. And then he just left.
no subject
But, what exactly was it that he'd done? He'd never heard of something like this before. It was foreign, just as much as the TV world had been well over a year ago by his world's time. His brows furrowed in thought as he wracked his brain on what it could be, from what little he knew of the magic in her world. Yet he came up empty-handed.]
Did he... say anything? Before he left?
no subject
[It's so frustrating. Xigbar rarely gives the appearance of taking anything seriously, and just as rarely speaks with any kind of respect or deference. That constant hint of a joke, a jibe, somewhere, makes it hard to tell if what he's said means nothing or everything.]
He also called me that stupid nickname of his.
[But that at least was nothing new.]
no subject
While he needed to check on dinner, he still reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder. Adding more of the marinade/sauce could wait a few extra seconds.]
... They have no way of accessing this world, right? [He paused.] Stay the night.
['You'll be safe here.' he meant.]
no subject
It's probably a mark of how spooked she is that she doesn't really argue about imposing.]
Okay. I didn't... really bring anything, though. Shit, Excalibur's back there too.
[Which... means she'll probably have nightmares. Possibly loud ones. Sorry.]
no subject
I can go get him, if you'd like.
[Which means going there, leaving her alone for a little while. Something he really doesn't want to do with how shaken she seems. He gets the feeling he's going to be glad he purchased some soundproofing tiles online for the bedroom. If nothing else because white walls still left him... unsettled whether she says no or not.]
And you can borrow one of my shirts. It'll be big, but it beats that coat.
no subject
[Re: Excalibur. And that's a pretty big maybe, right now. She's had all day to sit alone and stew in her own thoughts. She doesn't want to return to that right now.]
Thanks.
[After a moment, she reluctantly lifts her head again. She should... probably let him go check that dinner before it burns.]
I'll probably, um... go do that. Get changed now, if that's okay.
[She really really really doesn't like this coat right now. Hasn't for a while really, but especially not right now.]
no subject
[Both in regards to Excalibur, and to her going to get changed. He squeezes her shoulder gently, before regretting as he let go.]
I'll go check on dinner, then.
[He stands up from the table, already going toward the tiny kitchen.]
no subject
That being said he'd been there during the July infiltration, when she'd practically shredded her shirt grabbing onto the elevator cables. It hadn't been a problem then. A lot of her nervousness was very likely her feeling of vulnerability, at the moment.
Thankfully he is right about his shirt being big, it's big enough to practically be a short dress or tunic on her. So it's a few minutes later that she edges out, all bare feet and oversized shirt.]
It smells really good.
[Indeed, her stomach may have announced its own appreciation a couple times at the scents wafting through the air while she was changing.]
no subject
He'd paused, though, thinking on the utensils. While he had been teaching her how to use chopsticks, she wasn't fully accustomed to them yet. In the end, he decided to set her plate with both chopsticks and a spoon just in case.
He'd also texted Fuuka-san, asking if she could sense any dark presences and to keep an eye out. Not that he thought it was possible, but ever since the incident with Nanako- Well, saying he was slightly paranoid now would be understating it. Thanks, Tower.
By the time she'd found a shirt and had changed, dinner was already on the table - ready to be served. Glasses refilled and two sodas left on the table if she wished for one. He even smiled faintly as she returned.]
Thank you.
[He'd gotten a chuckle out of her stomach's announcement, but said nothing on it. He gestures for her to sit, while he served the meal. There would be plenty for seconds if she wanted any.]
no subject
She even does try to work with the chopsticks. And she is getting better.
It's once she's got about half her first helping down that she slows down enough to speak. And... it's important.]
I know, I... I probably should have been explaining more, what's going on. I'm sorry.
no subject
He's silent as he eats his own food, after saying itadakimasu under his breath so as to not disturb her. And of course, he listens when she begins to speak.]
It's alright. [Well, maybe not so much now, but with the horrors of their shared past, he felt that she only wanted to be sure to have at least one place of happiness and peace. Thus, he never pushed it. Letting her go at her own pace. Now, it almost feels as though Xion wasn't given any further options.]
I figured you would share what was going on further when you were ready to.
wheezes back in here (literally)
That's... what I was going to do. But I guess I should have figured somebody else would try to decide for me.
[Even though the Organization really had... no way of knowing about this place. Right?]
I left the Organization when I got back. I... I think I've said that much, or said I was going to. [Honestly even if she hadn't, it was common sense.] I went to find my universe's Riku and Namine and... there's this man they're working with. He's... he doesn't like the Organization. Or me. But I talked to them, and Riku and Namine agreed I shouldn't go back. Namine even said... with all these memories I have, I might not be able to. We're still sort of trying to figure what to do next.
[It's progress, true. Important progress, to have those two (and technically DiZ, even if he was dragged there kicking and screaming) on her side. But the future was still very uncertain.]
I've... I've been trying to get Roxas and Axel to come too. What I saw in the mirror about the Organization.... even if I didn't know about what should happen to me, it's not good.
Axel... said no. [Doesn't believe her, really. Not enough to risk everything. Even though her gut is telling her that he's risking just as much by staying.] Roxas is... he doesn't know what to think. I've been trying to talk him around, but...
[She sighs.]
I was supposed to meet him today, just... to see him, and try to talk to him. But... the others must've found out, because it was a trap.
[And no way Roxas would have willingly betrayed her, no matter how uncertain. Axel, she's less sure about, though.]
The scariest thing is... they know I think. The Organization. Maybe they don't know what happened, but they know I'm different. That I know things I shouldn't, that I'm stronger and have more abilities. And they want to know why.
/pets
Much like how it's his eyes that give away his own emotions, and how his partner was able to tell right away that shit had happened to him after he "took the train home." And it's his eyes that give away the concern despite the rest of his face being unreadable.
Yu listens quietly. Always silent. Afraid that if he interrupts at any point, she'll stop and clam up. Yet in the end, he can't help the choked noise that escapes him. That those who created her, wanted to use her for their own ends regardless of her own wishes just like those bastard admins from that shithole-
He takes a deep, steadying breath. Shoving those memories back in favor of the present. Reaching out to place a hand over hers.]
Is there any way they would have found out about the meeting time and location? Anything that seemed out of the ordinary before Xigbar appeared?
[He asks, that year spent solving the mysteries of the TV world and his time as Naoto's assistant coming back as readily as those nightmares with the right provocation. Though as he says it, he catches the sight of a familiar blue butterfly behind Xion. Yet he ignores it for now because she needs him present.]
... When you return, let me go with you. ['Let me help you.' he practically says in all but vocally. Sometimes it takes two voices instead of one, and while he might not be able to summon his Persona in the real world, he can still fight and draw upon its strengths.]
no subject
Roxas would never tell. [He wouldn't betray her like that. Not intentionally. Though...] Except... maybe to Axel. And Axel... he might've. If he thought it would protect Roxas.
['And maybe me,' she wants to say, but Axel was, and is still, such a puzzle and enigma for her. Even with what bits and flashes she remembers about Axel from the mirror, they're all twisted and tangled up, completely unpredictable and as likely to end badly as good. Her gut is telling her that ultimately he's on her side, but that not everything he does may be to her benefit.]
Nothing... really seemed strange, except Roxas not being there. I don't know. I try to keep watch nowadays but I still don't... I don't always know what to look for.
[Honestly she feels like she's getting paranoid enough as it is. It's so hard now.
Now... for that request. That's... a lot harder. And it takes her a lot longer to answer.]
I... I spend so much of my time now just... hiding, and trying to figure out what the Organization is doing. I'm not strong enough to fight them myself. Or even with Riku, or Roxas, if he were here. It's... [it has to be Sora.] Namine's the one who can fix everyone's memories, and she's still working. We're all just... waiting right now.
[It's a huge holding pattern, for the moment. And she doesn't know what can be done that wouldn't place them all - or anybody joining them - in extreme danger. And she's not sure Yu would want to or should stay with them for the days or weeks it might take for Namine to reach a breakthrough. It's not a yes.
But it's not a no either.]
no subject
Even so, they don't know of me... and I spent a year investigating another world with my friends. Not to mention an assistant to one of the best detectives I know.
[It's so weird to think about it like it'd been years ago, when in reality it was only one. At least, for all in this universe except the two in this room.]
What I'm saying is, maybe I can help find pieces you and Riku may have missed. And while I haven't learned how to summon in the real world again, Izanagi-no-Okami's resistances to the elements have lingered on.
[They weren't locked behind glamour anymore. Were tangible and real. Just as much as the touch of his girlfriend's fingers on the back of his hand and wrist. Even if it is risky, it's not as if he hasn't taken those chances before. Before the Tower, too. Thus, he would not be swayed unless she flat out told him no.
He would not let her fall into the pattern of learned helplessness again. Nor would he let her face this alone. He is not helpless; he could protect himself if it came down to it, his eyes briefly flickering to the Blade of Totsuka he has displayed above his TV and back to her deep blue gaze. Yet he would not rush in blindly, but support in whatever way he can.]
no subject
['I don't know. I don't want you to get hurt.
I don't want to be alone.']
I don't know, I can't, I'm sorry.
[It's too soon. She can barely think about all this, explain it to him. She can't ask him to get involved, not yet. At the same time, she can't ask him to stay out either. That would be cruel.]
