Mom don't be angry she's here to help :<
Taking a few steps forward, looking around - and in fact those few steps helped her clear the hill of sand that'd separated them from seeing each other. She turns to stare fully, eyes wide.]
Aqua?
[The question, as always, was which one?]
Oh bb, mom is not mad just cranky :<
Taking a few steps as well to help clear the hill of sand, her eyes widen and a small smile tries to cross her lips on instinct.]
...Xion? [How is she-? Wait, that would be a dumb question. Xion was one of those people who could manipulate the darkness to travel from place to place. The more accurate question would be: which Xion is she?
She pauses to study the other, subtly pinching herself to make sure this isn't a dream- ow, no. No, it is not. This is real; it's happening.]
Well, you seem to know me... but which "me"?
[Because let's face it, while she hasn't had the pleasure of meeting another of herself, she's seen enough multiples of the others to know better than assume it's a version of one of those she's met right off the bat if they "shouldn't" know her but do.]
no subject
I... I'm not sure. I've known... a few of you.
[She hesitates. She thinks it's safe to ask this question. If Aqua knew about multiples... then doubtless she went to the Tower, right? Especially if the watch led her here. ]
When were you at the Tower? What... happened then?
[Because Xion had been there for it all, but the different Aquas who'd come and gone... it'd been a bit more complicated for them]
no subject
Thank goodness.
['You managed to escape that place.' That tower wasn't a place she'd wish on anyone, not even Xehanort. And she's only caught a glimpse of what it's like there.]
We - Kairi, Naminé, and I - had been sent to the tower with many others from another city. One of the "problems" from that city's world had found his way to it, and we were supposed to stop it...
["And to think! There are even worse places in this multiverse where you could have ended up...so count yourself lucky! You were quite fortunate after all!"
...She shook her head in disappointment. Not successful at all, again.]
If you're here, then does it mean it's over for those at the Tower?
no subject
You... you're the one from that city? H-Hinoto-Ri?
[And then, without even bothering with a warning, disregarding the older woman's question entirely, Xion flies across the separating distance to wrap her arms around the other in a hug. Despite the number that had come in and out of the Tower, this particular Aqua had had the biggest impact on her life. The one that'd been there for the briefest amount of time.
Her voice is a little shaky when she's finally able to speak.]
I never thought I'd see you again.
[This possibility had not even occured to her when it came to crossing universes, and Zo's powers could only reach those who had been - really been, not just visited - the Tower. The people from Hinoto-Ri really had just been visitors. Ruana hadn't done to them what she'd done to them all. She understood that now.]
no subject
[She was about to say something else, but then there was suddenly a bitty clinging to her. For a moment, she blinks dumbfounded. She had only known this Xion for a short time, and knowing the others and how long it took for them to open up...
Had she left that much of an impression on her?
She hugs her back, a little tight. She hadn't expected to see her again either, but for it to be voiced aloud that she had thought the same wasn't something she'd expected. Hoped beyond all hope that they'd see each other again, but when she'd returned to her own timeline those hopes had diminished greatly.]
I hoped we would see each other again, but...
[Well, look where they are.]
We'd promised we'd find a way to return to help you all... I'm so glad to see you are alright.
no subject
She'd given her hope, in an indirect and roundabout way, perhaps. But she had.]
It's okay. I'm not... surprised. That you guys couldn't find your way back.
[Knowing what she knows now about Ruana and Zo and everything... she's kind of surprised that it even happened in the first place. Except that Ruana had probably found it entertaining, at first. Until Dax had used it as a distraction to attempt his coup.]
It took us a while, and it was really hard, but we were able to do it. We stopped Ruana, fixed our worlds...
[She smiles again, eyes getting a little wet again.]
And... some other things too.
[Like the fact that she, Sora, and Roxas have been awake for over a year now.]
no subject
Thank goodness. [She wipes her cheek on her sleeve, smiling.] ...Oh?
[Does that mean she did what she thinks she did?]
Did you... find another way?
no subject
She pauses there though, looking left and right.]
What is this place?
[It didn't seem like the greatest location to catch up, as far as she could tell. Especially with as long as both of their stories were promising to be.]
no subject
[The scary part is likely the lack of hesitation, and while she'd like to tell what this beach was... The heartless weren't really so keen as to make signs that read "WELCOME TO ___" anywhere.]
This place in particular I'm not so sure though, but it's the only safe haven I've found in my wanderings here.
no subject
No wonder everything felt so...
[Hostile. Unwelcoming. She has to wonder if this is how the Heartless felt in the Realm of Light.]
You'd know better than me. But... if you want, we could go somewhere else, maybe. This doesn't feel like the best place for any long stories or catching up.
no subject
[Welcome to her life, Xion. Tense and fighting fate twenty-four seven, three sixty-five.]
That's right. You have a way to open pathways, don't you. [She nods faintly.] We should hurry, before they--
[Her voice trails off before she finishes her sentence. Was that the sound of very big feet approaching, drawn toward them by the bigger collection of light inside this darkness.]
no subject
Shit.
[THANK RENO FOR THAT.
Still, even over a year after the Tower stopped really being a dangerous place, Xion's still more than ready for a major threat at the drop of a hat. She whirls around, eyes darting everywhere, her Keyblade appearing just in case while she raises an arm behind her to form a corridor.]
Let's go.
[Her voice is tight. Threats are a lot more big a of a deal to her now. It took a bit to sink in again at times, but she's remembered that death here is permanent.]
no subject
It goes against all of her training to dive through it, but in this case... hesitation can't be afforded. She runs through, not hesitant to grab for Xion's hand as she does so.]
no subject
She didn't need any kind of telling twice - nonverbal or otherwise - but Aqua grabbing her hand still is a bit of a surprise. It takes her a step or two, but she's quickly able to match pace with the older woman, pausing only to wave a hand and close the corridor behind them - but not before they hear an explosion from one of those mines go off.
Her footsteps slow a little then, and her attention turns to her surroundings, trying to pick a good spot to exit. Sure it had been an emergency, but Aqua still didn't have a Black Coat. It would really be best not to linger.
It doesn't take her long to find it, thankfully, and she waves a hand to open the corridor onto golden beams and sun-warmed bricks.
She turns to look at Aqua.]
Welcome to Twilight Town. I think... I don't know when this is, here, but I think we should be safe, for the time being.
[So long as they don't draw too much attention to themselves.]
no subject
The stadium.
Soon as they're through, she lets go of Xion's hand as though just realizing she'd done it. Though the sight of their current surroundings brings a hint of a smile to her face.]
If what his dreams said are true, it's much more peaceful than where we just were, too.
[She should... probably elaborate on that more. Right now though, she's just kind of in surprise that it actually worked... No Heartless in sight.]
no subject
[There's an uncomfortable stirring here. A half-memory, a feeling she'd come to associate with the Everythings they'd seen once. Whatever the memory was, it hadn't been good. She was, though, used to such passing feelings. The bigger reminder was seeing it - in her mind's eye - dead and lifeless, the skies a dark mockery of what they had once been, the buildings decaying and deserted. She pushed it to the back of her mind though. That was so long ago. Still, a frown shows on her face for a moment, before it faded and she turned back to Aqua.
Because there was something she'd said that was puzzling.]
Whose dreams?
[And what did dreams have to do with this?]
no subject
[More like: was abducted, much like they had in Hinoto-Ri. Though they really couldn't complain due to what they'd seen of their paths in the mirrors.]
Though we should probably talk about this elsewhere... [She's pretty sure those are the voices of some locals, and while she doesn't mind breaking the timeline... world order must be protected always.]
no subject
But still, Aqua's words raise a good point, and while world order still means nothing to her the idea of locals overhearing about the Tower doesn't seem to be a good one.
She hesitates, trying to think of a good spot. She knows Twilight Town very well, but there aren't many places she knows that they couldn't be found or spotted. If they actually had a private residence that might be possible but...]
We could go to Sunset Terrace. It's in the open, but we'll be able to hear anybody coming. Or maybe the back garden of the Old Mansion.... though there might be others there.
[She doesn't know if DiZ is still using it as a base here... in general she doesn't know the timeline. The Clock Tower just feels too much like asking to be found by someone though, so she doesn't suggest it.]
no subject
Sounds like Sunset Terrace is our best option.
[For as much as she would like somewhere more secluded, she doesn't know what is going on in the worlds at present any more than Xion does. For all she knows, it could be during the time Riku is fighting Roxas... (it's hard to forget those images she'd seen from the young boy's memories) or beyond that. After all, her only clue was a stranger she had no clue what his name was.]
Lead the way, Xion.
no subject
She ends up parking underneath the sculpture resembling the clock tower - it'll be easy to see what she's referring to about it's relative safety. There's a lot of open space around them, but almost no way for someone to get too near without being seen.]
So... I guess I should figure out where to start.
[Even with all of the people's she's explained it to in her own time, it's never been easy to do.]
Did... you have any questions, I guess?
no subject
Aqua follows quietly, trying to gauge Xion's expression as best as she could. Something had bothered her about her reaction to Roxas's name. The two had always seemed so close back in Promenade... Did something happen with this Xion and her best friend?
No, now didn't seem the best time to ask that particular question. Not when Xion seems about as lost as she is in where to start.]
Well, the last time we saw each other...I believe you were missing a few--
[fingers. Maybe it's a bit insensitive, but she wasn't really around to see someone come back from the dead and regain all missing appendages and other body parts. Grabbing her hand reminded her of that.]
no subject
Oh... yeah. I died, so... they came back.
[Right. That... actually was a good place to start.]
I guess it wasn't... exactly dying. Not completely.
[She hesitates again, still picking her point, but the beginning, the how was probably easiest]
That's... what made you guys - the ones from Hinoto-Ri - so different from us. Why you didn't have the collars, why it was so much more dangerous for you. Why they had to change the Tower so much before you guys could go into it. For so long they'd made it for us.
That world... it was never a good one. Even before it was destroyed. The scientists in the Tower of Animus... they were trying to experiment to create immortality. By splitting the soul from the body. And with Ruana, the one admin you saw who was a girl... it worked. They did it, but destroyed all of their world in the process.
She was really alone, for a long time. Until... she wanted company. So she brought us there, by doing the same thing to us that was done to her.
[Destroying their worlds, splitting their souls from their bodies. Making them essentially immortal.
She starts suddenly when a memory comes back to her. She hadn't thought about it for the longest time - at the time it'd happened, Nyarlahotep's words had meant little to her, with news of the infiltration still leaking out. And yet-]
He said it. When Zo turned on the terminals. That... thing you all came here, to try to chase. He said something about us being... "disembodied souls."
[Her hands come up to make a circle, thumbs upward, which she rests on her own body, right around the middle of her chest, where her heart was. To frame where the light of their souls had been.]
We... that's all we ever were. Our souls were taken from our bodies and put in these wireframes, which they made to look like our own.
Nothing in that place was really real, by then. Except us.
[Their souls, the bonds they'd made. And the Hinoto-Ri residents who'd visited. As Xion had said, that was what had made them different.]

[Aqua gasps, hand going to her mouth to keep herself from further outburst that could likely gain the attention of someone else. The lack of gravity with that statement made it all the more disconcerting, and all the more worrisome.
She wants to interrupt. Wants more than anything when Xion mentioned what Ruana did. Yet she stays silent, too shocked at first by the revelation to do so.]
...Nyarlathotep. [She says under her breath, the memory of that message coming back to her like the message in the maze.] It's name was Nyarlathotep.
[For the longest time, since she'd followed her own string back to her universe, she'd feared for the Tower residents' well being. Though first expelled by Ruana herself, then trapped in the darkness--it was all she could do to keep living and trying to find a way out to get back to so many friends.
To people and places she never thought she'd see again.
Maybe that's what caused her blood to boil, hearing that someone could (or rather, would and had) done that to other people. Human or not. The fact that some were friends only made it worse.]
How could someone do something like that?
[Though the way she'd said it--]
But you're here now, so you all learned how to undo the hurt Ruana caused?
[Otherwise she is going to find a way to get back there and punch a girl with light magic. Do not tempt her further after the years she spent honing her skills nigh without ceasing.]
no subject
[Her smile is soft and a little sad when she says it.]
It's funny but... After you left... the thing we were able to learn started to change things. Before, we were trying to figure things out, but the had us so wrapped up from the start we may never have gotten anywhere. But... you all helped, more than any of us realized. We started to fight more, and learn more. Eventually... I think we were getting close, but we were running out of time too. And Ruana realized this. She wanted to keep us there, even if she had to kill us all - really kill us.
[She's skimming over details, a lot, but she wants to answer Aqua's question first and foremost.]
But Zo - the little boy admin - he stopped her, and because of what we found out and told him, he was able to realized how to put us back in a way that revived our worlds at the same time.
[A sharp look of pain crosses her face.]
But after that he stayed with her, to... He wanted to lay them both to rest, especially her. Since she'd been alone, and unable to die for so long.
