And when she returned home, the weight of that responsibility... never really went away. Even now it feels like this is primarily her burden to shoulder. The burden of knowledge, of knowing how things could go, and the most likely way to avoid that future.
Even when that foreknowledge is beginning to fail her, as it is now, the responsibility is still there. Because really, who else could really take her place?
